Scheuren Announces Investment for Farmland Preservation in District
12/28/2023
HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced today that a 12-acre crop and livestock farm on Allentown Road, owned by Andrew Dale and Tanya Joy Frankenfield in Franconia Township, received a $1,420,431 investment for farmland preservation from the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture.

Of that $1,420,431 investment, $902,031 comes from the state, $302,400 comes from Montgomery County and $216,000 will come from Franconia Township.

“This investment will protect this farmland from residential or commercial development, allowing Pennsylvania to conserve land, soil and water resources across the commonwealth,” said Scheuren. “Preservation of farmland in my district is a key issue for me, and I am pleased to see this issue taken seriously. If we do not protect our farmland now, we will not have the resources to grow food and supply the $132.5 billion the agriculture industry feeds to Pennsylvania’s economy every year. This investment ensures that this farm will stay a farm, and guarantees our agricultural resources are protected in the 147th.”
