Scheuren Presents Check for $1 Million in Grant Funding to Souderton Area School District
HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) proudly presented a $1 million check to the Souderton Area School District, made possible through the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG). The Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG) provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects.
This $1 million in funding will facilitate the removal and replacement of the outdated HVAC system at Oak Ridge Elementary School, significantly improving air quality and energy efficiency. The current system at Oak Ridge that contains outdated refrigerants will be replaced with new equipment including chillers, roof-top units and split-system air conditioners with remote condensing units. Upgraded systems will provide higher efficiency, better air quality and delivery, and will reduce the district's carbon footprint.
“I am so excited to present this money to the Souderton Area School District,” said Scheuren. “Before I became a state representative, I served as a member of their school board for 12 years. I know how important grant funding like this is to help ensure projects are completed, which in turn provides our children with the best learning environment possible.”
