HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) today announced nine fire and EMS companies that serve the 147th District are set to receive grants from the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC).
“As a huge supporter of our fire and EMS companies, I am thrilled to see them receive these grants,” said Scheuren. “First responders put themselves on the line for our community every day, and this additional funding will allow them to continue to protect and serve our area to the best of their abilities.”
All companies must first file a grant agreement with OFSC, but all that apply and meet requirements outlined by OSFC receive funding. The first responders that received grants are as follows:
• Gilbertsville Area Community Ambulance Service – $15,000.
• Gilbertsville Fire and Rescue Company – $16,951.99.
• Harleysville Emergency Medical Service – $10,000.
• Harleysville Community Fire Company – $16,951.99.
• Lower Frederick Fire Company – $29,951.99.
• New Hanover Volunteer Fire and Rescue Services – $29,951.99.
• Upper Frederick Fire Company – $15,784.85.
• Upper Pottsgrove Township Fire Company No. 1 – $16,951.99.
• Upper Salford Volunteer Fire Company – $16,951.99.
Eligible projects for this funding include plans such as the construction or renovation of a company facility, the purchase or repair of equipment, the training of staff or the reduction of any existing debt the company may have accumulated. All funding comes from slot machine gaming proceeds and not the General Fund tax revenue.
