Scheuren Announces Funding Secured for Career and Technical Education Programs

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced today that two career and technical education (CTE) schools in the 147th Legislative District will be receiving grants from the Competitive Equipment Grants Program, through the Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE).

North Montco Technical Career Center and Western Montgomery Career and Technology Center each will receive $85,000, the maximum amount available, to update or purchase equipment for training of students in approved career and technical education programs.

“At a time when technical and skilled trades jobs are in short supply, investing in high quality training programs is essential,” Scheuren said. “This funding strengthens hands on learning opportunities and helps ensure a strong, well prepared workforce for the future.”

To qualify for funding, school districts and career and technical centers must have eight or more PDE-approved CTE programs.

“Let’s continue to champion and invest in career and technical education so every student has the tools and opportunities they need to succeed,” Scheuren concluded.
