Scheuren Issues Statement on JBS USA – Franconia Plant Closure

June 12, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) today issued the following statement regarding the pending closure of the JBS USA meatpacking plant in Souderton, Montgomery County:

“The news of the JBS USA plant closing in Franconia Township is devastating. My immediate concern lies with the employees, their families and the community at-large, who will feel the impact most directly.

“My office and I are already making calls to the Pennsylvania Secretary of Agriculture and Sen. Dave McCormick’s office to determine what, if anything, can be done in response to this sudden development.

“There is no doubt the employees, who learned today their job losses take effect on Aug. 14, are experiencing many overwhelming emotions and are searching for answers as to what comes next. Rest assured, my office stands ready to assist those affected by this shocking announcement. We are committed to advocating for resources, support, and any possible avenues to help the individuals and families facing this uncertain and difficult transition.”
