Scheuren: Franconia Township to Receive More Than $2 Million for Wastewater System Improvements

July 15, 2026

HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced Franconia Township Sewer Authority will receive nearly $2.35 million in the form of a low-interest loan through the Pennsylvania Infrastructure Investment Authority (PENNVEST) for a wastewater system upgrade. This loan will reduce the long-term cost and improve affordability for the residents.

The project includes the installation of 15,010 feet of a new, low-pressure sewer main to provide public sewer access to 131 existing homes currently using on-lot disposal systems. This new installation will be tied into current infrastructure and convey the wastewater to existing treatment facilities. This project is anticipated to reduce nutrient loading to the Indian Creek.

“This project is a forward-thinking investment in our community’s health and environmental future,” Scheuren said. “It’s a smart, sustainable step that benefits residents with a preference for public sewer, protects local waterways and supports long-term environmental stewardship.”

PENNVEST provides grants and low-interest loans for design, engineering and construction of publicly and privately owned drinking water distribution and treatment facilities, as well as storm water and wastewater projects.
