HARRISBURG – Rep. Donna Scheuren (R-Montgomery) announced today that Souderton Area School District (SASD) has received a grant from the Public School Facility Improvement Grant Program (PSFIG), which provides grants to public school districts and area career and technical schools for eligible facility improvement projects.

SASD will receive $1 million for HVAC projects at Souderton Area Senior High School, Oak Ridge Elementary School, and Vernfield Elementary School located in Lower Salford and Franconia townships, Montgomery County.

This project will remove and replace existing deteriorated HVAC equipment at three buildings within the school district. In total, 19 HVAC units containing dangerous refrigerants will be replaced with new equipment including chillers, roof-top units and split-system air conditioners with remote condensing units. Upgraded systems will provide higher efficiency, better air quality and delivery, and will reduce the district's carbon footprint.

“I am thrilled to see Souderton Area School District receive this funding,” said Scheuren. “This grant will allow the necessary upgrades to take place and make these three buildings safer and more efficient for everyone who attends and works at these schools.”
